The limits- Types of infertility

The limits

The investigation of infertility begins when a couple has been trying for pregnancy for more than 12 months. Of course, this criterion changes depending on the age of the woman and especially at ages over 35. This limit is not so much related to the woman's desire to have children until an age, which is vague and individualized for each woman, as to medical data about biological reality. In particular, regardless of the endocrinological profile of each woman, on average after the age of 35 the quality of the eggs produced each month has a decreasing quality, with the result that the fertilization of the eggs, with natural contacts of the couple or with assisted reproduction techniques, leads to most times in the formation of embryos with chromosomal abnormalities or embryos that cannot develop into an incipient pregnancy. Regarding the male factor, without clear age limits, increasing age combined with the appearance of andrological dysfunctions (varicose veins, erectile problems, etc.) and the prolongation of harmful habits such as smoking and alcohol, lead to reduced sperm quality , which is often not easily reversible.
