First Trimester

 Duration and visits

The first trimester lasts the first 14 weeks of pregnancy. The calculation is made from the date of the last period, with which we can calculate the possible date of delivery. Verification of this calculation is given during the ultrasound at the end of the first trimester. It is perhaps the most important part of pregnancy since during this period the development of all the systems of the fetus is completed and also during this period the fetus is more sensitive to the effect of drugs and radiation.

4th-8th week

As soon as you find out you are pregnant make an appointment to be examined and have your first ultrasound. It is very important to determine if the pregnancy is developing inside the uterus, that is to rule out the existence of an ectopic pregnancy (a condition of extreme danger for the woman) and of course if you are more than 6 weeks pregnant to see the fetus and to see or even listen to the fetal heartbeat.. 

 

11th-14th week

Laboratory Tests

The laboratory tests you should do during the first trimester include a large number of blood tests, which are done at the first visit, after the positive fetal heart function is confirmed, and are not repeated thereafter. At each visit it is necessary to bring recent results of a General Blood Test and a General Urine Test.
