Dr Anastasios Makedos, MD, MSc, PhD, DFSRH

Obstetrician-Hand. Gynecologist

He graduated from the Medical School of A.P.Th. in 2001, he then completed the Master's Program of the School of Medicine of the A.U.Th. (MSc). He prepared a doctoral thesis (PhD) on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) at the 2nd Obstetrics-Gynecology Clinic of the University of Athens. (2003-2006).

He received the specialty title of Obstetrics-Gynecology in 2009 in Thessaloniki after training as a General Surgery specialist at G.N.Th. "Agios Dimitrios" (2003-2004), specialist in Obstetrics-Gynecology at G.N. Volos "Achillopoulio" (2004-2006), at Scarborough General Hospital in England (2006-2007), at Burnley General Hospital  in England (2007) and at "Hippokrateion" G.N. Thessaloniki ( 2008-2009).

Immediately after, he returned to England in a salaried position at the University College of London (UCL)  Royal Free Hospital of London as a specialist Obstetrician-Gynecologist (Senior Clinical Fellow-post CCT), where fully participated in the clinic's clinical program and on-call program (2009-2010). There he trained in Maternal Medicine, Endoscopic Surgery, Colposcopy based on the BSCCP program. He also completed his training in Family Planning under the program   and received after examinations the Diploma of Sexual and Reproductive Health (DFSRH).

In October 2010, he started at the 1st Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the University of Thessaloniki. in the department of Human Reproduction, as a Specialist in the subspecialty of Human Reproduction based on the ESHRE-EBCOG training program, until October 2013. He continued until November 2015 in the same department as a Scientific Associate of A.U.Th., while from From November 2015 until 2022, he was an Academic Consultant at the Human Reproduction Unit, participating in the clinical, teaching and research work and in the on-call rota.

He participated in the publication of 17 full papers and 21 abstracts in international medical journals, in the writing of 2 chapters in Greek and 2 chapters in English medical books. He has participated in 39 international courses-workshops, 11 international and 45 Greek conferences and seminars. He has participated as an organizer-instructor-invited speaker in 8 international seminars-workshops and has announced 52 papers in Greek and 27 papers in international conferences.
