Third Trimester

 Duration and visits

The third trimester lasts from the 28th to the 40th week. However, according to the opinions of recent years, pregnancy does not last 40 weeks but 41-42 weeks. Of course, it should be pointed out that delivery after 37 weeks is not considered premature. The fetus begins to gain weight rapidly, while the mother's weight is expected to increase more compared to the other two trimesters.

30th-32nd week

During this period, an ultrasound of the development of the fetus must be performed. During this ultrasound examination, the growth of the fetus is checked, which is evaluated based on the percentage curves of the intrauterine growth of the fetus, and the possible weight of the fetus at the present time is calculated. It is a very good opportunity to see your baby in a three-dimensional (3D) or four-dimensional (4D) ultrasound, since morphologically it is very close to the characteristics that will have when it is born at full term. Ask for the photos printed on paper or in digital jpeg format (if provided).

36th week- Childbirth

Just before the start of your last month of pregnancy and four weeks after your last comprehensive ultrasound check, you should have weekly or fortnightly visits, depending on the riskiness of the pregnancy. The blood pressure measurement and the mother's weight measurement, although they are a constant practice at each of your visits, during the last month may have a special prognostic value for the way and the exact date of completion of labor. If macrosomia (excessive weight) or intrauterine fetal growth restriction is suspected, you will probably have one or two more ultrasounds done.
